To keep a $7.4 million construction project as local as possible, area construction contractors and suppliers are invited to an informational meeting Thursday regarding bidding for its construction. The 64,000-square-foot, four-story Fountain Square Apartment project — to be built at the northeast corner of South East Avenue and East Station Street in downtown Kankakee — is anticipated to break ground yet this year and be ready for residents by late 2017. Developed by Economic Growth Corporation of Rock Island, the apartment complex will offer 35 residential rental units ranging from 900 square feet to 1,150 square feet. Any persons in the building trades, general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers interested in bidding construction and construction-related work for Fountain Square are urged to attend this meeting. |
