It is an initiative of the National Institute for Sustainable Development of Artisanal Fishing and Small-Scale Aquaculture (Indespa) for vessels in the regions of Coquimbo, Maule, Biobío and Los Lagos.
The National Institute for Sustainable Development of Artisanal Fishing and Small-Scale Aquaculture of Chile (Indespa) is financing the installation of photovoltaic kits in more than 600 artisanal fishing boats in the regions of Coquimbo, Maule, Biobío and Los Lagos.
These are vessels less than 12 meters in length that are part of the winning projects in the national competition of the Photovoltaic Energy for Fishing Vessels program, promoted since 2017 to benefit the artisanal sector. An investment close to 1.6 million dollars is mentioned.
Each photovoltaic kit provides an emergency energy reserve to charge radios, cell phones, as well as the energy to turn on navigation lights and backup lighting.
Specifically, it involves the installation of panels up to 300 W, a power inverter, regulator, battery and the structures, if necessary, to support the panels. The execution of these works was awarded via tender to the companies Potencial SpA and Servicios de Energía Ciudad Luz SpA.
According to the Indespa statement, there are 91 vessels from the Coquimbo region, more than 60 from Maule, more than 80 vessels from Biobío and more than 400 vessels from Los Lagos. |
