Work Detail The Indian manufacturer Jakson has presented this week at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2023 fair its 590 W TOPCon bifacial solar panels, with an energy conversion efficiency of 22.86%. Jakson has presented n-type double glass solar panels based on TOPCon technology. The JN-590W model offers a peak power of 590 W (at standard temperature conditions) and an efficiency of 22.86%. The module is built with M10 half cells and 16 bus bars. It offers a bifacial gain of up to 25%, making the module capable of generating energy with both direct and reflected sunlight. The bifaciality factor is 80±5%. The module measures 2,278×1,133×35 mm and weighs 33 kg. It can operate in a temperature range of -40 ºC to 85 ºC. Anurag Garg, COO of Jaksons solar division, told pv magazine that Indian manufacturers are increasingly focusing on TOPCon technology. According to Garg, the price difference (INR/Wp) between TOPCon and mono PERC modules is reducing, making TOPCon technology more attractive. These modules offer greater power with the same size. Additionally, manufacturers producing mono PERC cells can move to TOPCon cell production with targeted improvements and adjustments to their current production lines. Garg expects TOPCon technology to take a leading position in the market by the end of next year. However, mono PERC modules will continue to coexist for some time, similar to the transition from polycrystalline technology. Jakson is expanding its module manufacturing capacity to 1.2 GW by adding a 600 MW production line. This new line will manufacture glass mono PERC and TOPCon modules with up to 16 busbars.
