The fix of the famous Bulevar and Urquiza sinkhole seems to be closer to becoming a reality. The spokesperson for Aguas Santafesinas, Germán Nessier, told AIRE details of the project, which is expected to be completed at the beginning of next year. Last Friday, the bidding envelopes for the work were opened and they are carrying out some preliminary evaluations with the company to be able to begin the work. The term of the work, carried out by Tecno Fundaciones SRL, is five months.
«Last Friday the offers for this tender were opened. An offer was submitted that is within the parameters of the official budget that I have established. Now it will move on to the evaluation stage, from the economic-financial point of view and the technical and legal aspects within the framework of what is called the pre-award evaluation of the tender," Nessier explained in Creo, the José Curiotto.
«The official budget was estimated at practically 267 million pesos with VAT included. Now there is a whole evaluation process and then the signing of the contract will come. Once the contract is signed, it will be the effective start of the work," he said.
What is the work to fix the collapse in Bulevar and Urquiza like?
The general sewer collector, known as the maximum sewer, which was designed in the 1970s, lacked access of sufficient size to allow maintenance work to be carried out by bringing in large-scale equipment. The new chamber will make it possible to access the maximum sewer without the need to make openings in the road, with all the consequences that this implies for the state of the public space. The ongoing tender is the second call for the construction of this facility, after the first was declared void. On this occasion it is expected to have at least two offers.

It is worth mentioning that once the offers are received, they will be analyzed by the pre-award committee and, if applicable, the winning company must subsequently comply with all the technical and administrative requirements indicated in the specifications. Once the commencement document is signed, the expected work period is five months. The most relevant details of the project include:
Injection of cementitious material with polymers to consolidate the soil in the central bed of the depressed area to ensure its stability.
Construction of a wall on both sides of the general sewage collector 11 meters deep - above the central bed - with a system of reinforced concrete “cast walls” that will make up the walls of the new chamber and will act as retaining sheet piling ( without the inconvenience to the neighbors).
Depression of layers to begin the excavation of the soil within the built enclosure and execution of end closures.
Execution of the bottom slab, and removal of the intervened section of pipe.
Placement of precast prestressed concrete cover slab.
On the other hand, it can be noted that the pipes for the start-up of the necessary bypass during the execution of the work have already been collected and, in parallel, progress is being made in contracting the rental of special pumps for this task. To reach this stage, different works were previously carried out to provide a diagnosis of the situation and thus define the appropriate project, prepared by company technicians. |
