The Secretary of Works and Infrastructure of the province of Río Negro, Alejandro Echarren, gave details of the challenges faced by public works in the region, highlighting the recent stoppage of work on the new building of the Provincial Health Insurance Institute (IPROSS). ).
In the dialogue with Radio Noticias, Echarren explained the situation. "We have had to terminate the contract (with the construction company) for the IPROSS building, unfortunately, for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the State."
In his opinion "the State complied with all payments with the construction company that has had its own financing problems and a complex economic and financial situation, with which we have made the decision to terminate the contract and we are now in a process of preparing the "new bidding document for the remaining 28 percent."
In any case, the official highlighted the commitment to continue with the work. «It is not the most opportune time to tender a public work, even we ourselves are having a hard time finishing the budget because there are values ??that obviously have to do with suppliers that are not being obtained. The same thing happens to construction companies, to be able to quote a project, it is not the most opportune time but we are going to try," he indicated.
Regarding the current economic challenges, Echarren pointed out: "In this context there is a lot of speculation, elements that must be provided in the different works, which generally have to do with the import part, which are quoted in dollars."
Echarren emphasized the importance of keeping accounts in order in the field of public works and mentioned that some works have been paralyzed due to financing problems by the national government.
Regarding the IPROSS work, he assured: "When one knows the place where the employees are working, the more reason we want this work to be finished once and for all and that they can have a place with the conditions that the employee really deserves."
However, he did not provide an exact date for the resumption of the work financed with funds from the Castello Plan since they are finalizing the new bidding document. The original updated contract amount was 190,915,409 pesos, and the company in charge was Construcciones Normalizados, which was delayed during the coronavirus pandemic, and at the time the Minister of Public Works himself, Carlos Valeri, was about to lower thumbs up to the contractor for the delays.
The new IPROSS headquarters will be a building with large and modern spaces for more than 230 Viedma workers, on three floors, facing Roca and Belgrano streets, and consequently the execution was 72% complete although with the elevators placed. |
