Bosch currently sells the new heat pumps in the DACH markets and plans to expand sales in other European markets in September. The new products use propane as a refrigerant and integrated sound diffusers.
Bosch Home Comfort Group, a unit of German industrial conglomerate Robert Bosch GmbH, has recently launched a new series of air-to-water heat pumps for residential applications.
The series consists of the Compress 5800i AW and Compress 6800i AW heat pumps, which use propane (R290) as refrigerant. “The use of R290 requires the implementation of additional safety components, due to the flammability of the refrigerant, which are not necessary in the case of the F-Gas refrigerant,” a company spokesperson told pv magazine . "On the other hand, the R290 refrigerant is not affected by the F-Gas regulation and is therefore more affordable."
The manufacturer offers the new heat pumps with complementary photovoltaic packages. “Especially in the DACH (German, Austrian and Swiss) markets, sales of heat pumps are increasingly being combined with photovoltaic systems,” the spokesperson added. “Bosch Home Comfort also offers a power meter/sensor that allows Bosch heat pumps to work with any existing photovoltaic system and battery storage solution in the home.”
The Compress 5800i AW heat pump is available in five versions with a nominal power from 3.9 kW to 6-7 kW and has a maximum flow temperature of 60ºC. It also has an integrated 180 L domestic hot water tank and a 16 L buffer tank.
In addition, this product has a 3-way switching valve for the generation of domestic hot water and occupies a space of 0.36 m², which, according to the company, makes it ideal for use in new buildings. The wall version has a height of 71 cm.
The Compress 6800i AW heat pump is also available in five versions with a nominal power of 3.9 kW to 6.7 kW and a maximum flow temperature of 75ºC. It has two heating circuits and an integrated 70 L buffer tank concept with a height of 1.2 m, which, according to the company, is ideal for refurbished and new buildings.
Both products measure 600mm x 600mm x 1,787mm and weigh 156kg. They are acoustically optimized from the start thanks to integrated sound diffusers. The manufacturer claims that the new products are among the quietest heat pumps in their class.
“Compress 5800i AW and Compress 6800i AW support power management ready from Q4 2023,” explains the spokesperson. “The power management itself must be purchased separately through a one-time license fee that optimizes your power system and translates into additional energy cost savings year after year.”
Bosch Home Comfort currently sells the new heat pumps in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. “In September we will offer the heat pump in France, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Poland,” the spokesperson said. "In November we will also take them to Italy and next year we will launch them in more European markets." |
