The much-anticipated Copeland Athletic Complex at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) is scheduled to go under construction in October, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for September 20, 2023. The public is cordially welcomed to the event. It will take place on the southeast side of MNU’s campus, next to 143rd and Mur-Len.
The cutting-edge building will be located close to Dixon Baseball Stadium and Williams Softball Field. It is also close Pioneer Soccer Field and Cook Centre, which contains Bell Family Arena. It will span an astonishing 11 acres. The complex, which boasts state-of-the-art amenities, promises to revolutionise the sporting experience for both athletes and spectators.
The president, Dr. David Spittal, said, “This facility is part of our strategy to provide a superb experience for athletes and fans alike.” We must give student athletes a home-field advantage because they make up half of our student body. The new building will improve our entire school and help the neighbourhood.
When the project was expected to be finished, Todd Garrett, the director of athletics at MNU, said, “This new complex will not only provide much-needed home fields for several sports. It will also provide the training and gathering spaces needed to further build, develop, and educate student athletes.”
How many seats the MidAmerica Nazarene University Athletic complex will have
According to Garrett, plans call for a stadium with 1,000 seats. Additionally, a cutting-edge artificial grass pitch for football that can also be used for other sports, like soccer. A track with eight lanes and improvements to the current infrastructure are also included.
The multi-year Bright Futures Campaign for MNU, which got a substantial $2 million incentive from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation, enabled the realisation of the Copeland Athletic Complex. “With the momentum created by the Mabee Challenge grant, our committed donors and volunteers rallied together, raising an astounding $8 million in just one year,” said Dr. Jon North, vice president for university advancement. |
