Work Detail KPMG has launched a Project Information Memorandum for Chobe Zambezi Water Transfer Scheme in Botswana. Through this Information Memorandum (IM), the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) wishes to disseminate information and engage with the market to assess the appetite for the project. Botswana, facing water stress and recurring droughts, plans to address this issue by utilizing its allocated ?????? ??????/?? water share from the Chobe/Zambezi River. This allocation has been granted by the Zambezi Watercourse Commission (ZAMCOM) and is set to be accessed through a ~1500+km pipeline stretching from Kazungula to Mmamashia. The key stakeholders of the water scheme are: Water Utilities Corporation, (Principal Off-taker): Off-taker for all PPP projects in water and related activities; Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation, (Parent Ministry): Responsible for the management of land and water resources in Botswana; Ministry of Finance, (Overseer): Oversees the project details through the PPP unit; Ministry of Agriculture, (Secondary Off-taker): The Zambezi Integrated Agro-Commercial Development Project (ZIACDP) is the primary off-taker (of WUC) for the first section of the pipeline; Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism (Stakeholder): Responsible for details on Forestry, Environment Impact Assessment etc. The pipeline aims to secure a sustainable water supply for the country and improve its water resilience. The project is expected to be operational in the year 2027.
