Work Detail |
This is the arrangement of the gates of Canal No. 2. The public works will benefit the towns of General Guido, Lavalle and Maipú.
The Undersecretary of Water Resources of the province of Buenos Aires - Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services - tendered this Friday the public work to repair the gates of Canal No. 2 "with an official budget of $607,428,510
The arrangement will benefit the parties of General Guido, Lavalle and Maipú. As explained by the Buenos Aires government, currently the existing gates "are rusty and impossible to maneuver, with damage to the concrete structures, and some of them were canceled through closing embankments that prevent runoff," they detailed.
The work provides for the repair and enhancement of the existing structures on both banks of Canal No. 2, which also involves the replacement of the bottom and emergency gates of the freshwater retention work.
Likewise, the replacement of a damaged section of the protection lining of the "El Palenque" Island and the repair and enhancement of the retention work in the "Guido al Mar" Canal are planned, which will reduce the entry of salt water towards the intake that supplies the town of General Lavalle.
It should be noted that with the projected works it will be possible to avoid losses of fresh water from the reservoir through the bottom gates of the retention work of Canal No. 2.
Likewise, an adequate outlet will be provided for surface runoff from the fields adjacent to Canal No. 2, in the districts of Gral. Lavalle, Maipú and General Guido, allowing the retention and accumulation of water in the event of periods of drought and scarcity of water resources.
In this regard, the Undersecretary of Water Resources, Guillermo Jelinski, explained: "It is a fundamental work for several parties in the Province, since it involves the repair of gates of more than 90 kilometers of canal and the enhancement of all the floodgates and the reconstruction of embankments of Palenque». |
