Work Detail The installation was a technical challenge due to its location close to the port and the strong wind speeds that exist in that area, and it will satisfy the energy demand of the company to produce products derived from palm oil. The German company IBC SOLAR has completed the installation of a photovoltaic self-consumption project in Santa Marta, Colombia, for the company Caribbean Eco Soaps, hand in hand with its local partner Cercar Energy. The 606.15 kWp installation is made up of 1,347 Longi LR4-72HIH-450M solar modules, 10 SMA STP50-US-40 CORE 1 inverters and TopFix 200 structures for IBC Solar sheet metal roofs. Caribbean Eco Soaps produces products derived from palm oil for the cosmetic, food and energy industries. The company requires a high and constant consumption of energy for its production, which is why it has chosen to supply its energy demand (3.68 GWh/year) through solar energy. The 606.15 kWp photovoltaic installation was carried out in 2 buildings with a trapezoidal gabled sheet metal roof and a one-pitch roof with a canopy where the trucks unloaded the raw material. The company explains that the facilities are located near the port of Santa Marta. "Due to the high wind speeds, being a coastal area, the correct dimensioning of the structure and the distribution of modules on the roof was key," says IBC Solar, adding that "A special operating configuration had to be carried out in investors since the network is created by gas generators with specific parameters for the proper functioning of the installed machines”.
