Work Detail The National Administration of Alcohol and Portland Fuels of Uruguay (ANCAP), a public company that holds the monopoly on the import, refining and sale of oil in the country, will be transformed into a sustainable energy company. This was stated by the president of ANCAP, Alejandro Stipanicic, at the IX LATAM Renewables Congress organized by AUDER (Uruguayan Association of Renewable Energies), the most important meeting of the energy sector in Uruguay. On the occasion, Stipanicic, after assuring that the strategy is to transform ANCAP into a sustainable energy company, maintained that "the world has to be realistic and responsible regarding the energy transition and that the process will be long and must take place in one fair, orderly and responsible manner”. "To think about the future, you have to do the present and that is why at ANCAP we are fulfilling our main mission by delivering fuels with the quality and quantity required by the market at the lowest possible cost, without neglecting the future," said the president of ANCAP. Previously, the Uruguayan Minister of the Environment, Robert Bouvier, stated: “We hope that the country can position itself as a producer of energy and renewable products, constituting a new strategic and long-term export item. These are renewable products and fuels that are being demanded by various markets, for which Uruguay can occupy a place of enormous relevance as a supplier and recipient of investments”. In turn, the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay, Omar Paganini, stressed that green hydrogen is an opportunity to develop indigenous energy, a new sector that generates added value, which makes the country independent and projects it to the world. “We have to take advantage of our comparative advantages in this changing world. We have renewable resources far beyond our local needs,” Paganini said.
