Plans for a major media and content production studio project dubbed the Sunnyside Campus are underway in QUEENS, New York. Recently, East End Studios secured a $193 million senior construction loan from Canyon Partners Real Estate to build the project. Additionally, the developer said the city’s Industrial Development Agency(NYCIDA) also supported the project with valuable tax incentives.
Jonathon Yormak, an East End Studios founding partner, mentioned that the Sunnyside Campus was positioned at an ideal location. Especially since, New York City is one of the largest entertainment markets in the world, with significant unmet demand. Therefore, he said their production studio would fill that gap while also establishing an elevated standard for modern studio workflows.
Timeline for the Sunnyside Campus project
East End Studios expects to complete the Sunnyside Campus development by HD first quarter of 2025. The company will build the facility on a full city block, located between Queens Boulevard and the Long Island Expressway. Its location will be only a short walk away from the 7-train and Long Island Railroad. Therefore, cast and crew members on the campus will enjoy excellent public transportation options, including hyper-efficient vehicular and truck access.
Upon completion, the Sunnyside Campus will span 275,000 square feet and feature three ground floor sound stages. Each of the stages will be full-service, best-in-class facilities spanning 75,000 square feet, with 37' clear heights. In addition, a 125,000 square foot space will be set aside for amenities such as production, office, and mill areas. There will be 225 below-grade parking spaces available on the property along with eight enclosed loading bays at grade for full size trucks. Furthermore, cast and crew members will also have access to a 15,000 square foot rooftop flex-stage, with 26' clear heights.
