They authorized the project that seeks to modify the Civic Center
The municipality, through the Undersecretariat of Culture, is advancing in the refunctionalization project of the Civic Center, a project that, based on certain modifications, seeks to value the main square of the city, although not without controversy. The proposal has already been presented and approved by the National Commission for Historical Monuments and Assets and the mayor will seek to begin work before the end of his term.
One of the main modifications in the place is the transfer of the monument to General Roca to another area of ??the Civic and a special place would be implemented for a mural referring to the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.
Although Gennuso has stated that he does not seek to enter into ideological discussions, the project has divided the waters in terms of the handkerchiefs on the floor of the square and the presence of Roca in the Civic Center.
“It was a very serious and deep job, to look at the heritage to preserve it and how to transmit the responsibility of caring to society” expressed Gennuso through El Cordillerano Radio (FM 93.7).
The project that seeks to value "the postcard of the city" was approved in 2023 and it is estimated that after winter the modifications will begin.
One of the targeted sites to modify is the Frey room. The Undersecretary of Culture, Marisa De Aguiar, expressed that it is "an important challenge ahead, a Civic Center rethought with the care it deserves and the balcony of the Frey is an objective. If we dont do this enclosure, we cant take care of it, its important to restore it,” she highlighted.
The project establishes the implementation of an ornamental lighting system for the buildings that will enhance the characteristics of the monument.
One of the main axes proposes restoring the monument to General Roca and then relocating it. The mayor had already stated that “the original peoples feel affected by the presence of Roca. To avoid this, it is good to look for a place that is not so central to the gaze of those who go to the Civic Center, which is used by everyone”.
"Changes are taking place in the heritage sites for their conservation and better use, Bariloche has to be part of that journey" pondered the official. |
