Work Detail Compañía Minera Cuzcatlán, a Mexican subsidiary of Canadian Fortuna Silver, has announced the installation of a second stage of photovoltaic panels at the San José mine, in the state of Oaxaca. The Mexican subsidiary of the Canadian multinational mining company Fortuna Silver, Compañía Minera Cuzcatlán (CMC), has announced the completion of the second stage of the project to install solar panels for self-consumption of the San José Mining Unit, located in San José del Progreso, Oaxaca. A statement explains that a total of 144 solar panels have been installed, distributed in 96 in the chemical laboratory, 24 in the general store and 24 more in the dining room. It is ensured that the installation of the chemical laboratory can reach a production of 45 kWh, which allows covering 30% of the electrical consumption of the area. Meanwhile, the set of panels installed in the other two areas have a production of 15 kWh, thus achieving an 80% reduction in electricity consumption in both. The project has also contemplated the installation of eight solar heaters that provide domestic hot water for the use of personnel leaving the interior of the mine. In 2021 CMC had already undertaken a first stage, by installing 72 solar panels with a system capacity of 30 kWh, "enough to supply electricity to the administrative areas of the Mining Unit for the use of office equipment, lighting and systems, mainly", as explained.
