Work Detail Kraft Heinz, a Chicago-based company, recently revealed plans to build a $400 million distribution facility in DeKalb. The centre is slated to open in 2025 and employ over 150 people. Furthermore, it will support the booming job market in the commercial construction sector. The 775,000-square-foot warehouse will be built in the ChicagoWest Business Centre, a 1,200-acre business park about 65 miles west of Chicago. Due to its advantageous location and easy access to the rail network, Kraft Heinz can improve the effectiveness of its supply chain by accelerating product delivery to retail and food service clients. Significance of the US$400 million Kraft Heinz Facility Carlos Abrams-Rivera, executive vice president of Kraft Heinz, emphasised the distribution centre’s crucial function in handling more than 60% of the company’s dry commodities in North America. This advancement highlights the cutting-edge thinking of their supply chain teams. They have reportedly improved the effectiveness and agility of business operations. As another famous company in the industrial park, Kraft Heinz will join the ranks of Ferrara Candy, Meta, and Amazon. While Oak Brook-based Krusinski Construction will handle the project’s general contracting, the park is being built by Dallas-based Trammell Crow. The number of warehouse transactions in Chicago’s industrial sector has increased recently, yet growth began to slow down in 2023. Large industrial buildings are being leased by well-known companies including Target, Walmart, Home Depot, and Unilever. This improves the efficiency of their distribution centres. The Kraft Heinz project maintains the current trend and improves competitive standing in this environment. “We are thrilled that Kraft Heinz will bring to our town its global reputation for high quality goods and services. The employment opportunities they create during and after construction will benefit our residents long-term. Additionally, the additional tax base diversification will only increase interest in DeKalb for many years to come.” stated Cohen Barnes, the mayor of DeKalb.
