Red Rock Power and Jones Bros aim to wrap up all 15 bases at 67MW Scottish wind farm by year-end
Red Rock Power has reached a key construction milestone at its 67MW Benbrack wind farm in Scotland, finalising the first of 15 turbine foundations.
Civil engineering contractor Jones Bros completed the 290-cubic metre concrete pour within eight hours, making use of an onsite batching plant.
Around 10km of access tracks have also been completed since construction started in October 2022, with work on the Dumfries and Galloway site’s control building now underway.
Benbrack will be supplied by a mix of Vestas V136 and V117 turbines and is due to be fully operational next year.
Project director David Fielding said: “We’ve made good progress since October and the first concrete pour signifies a key shift in momentum for the project.
“We’re on track to complete the construction of all 15 turbine foundations this year in preparation for component delivery in early 2024.
“Jones Bros’ onsite concrete batching plant and skilled team allowed for a smooth operation and will improve efficiencies across the remaining pours considerably.
“We have also been able to utilise aggregate materials gained on site from the approved borrow pit, further reducing the need for heavy plant vehicles travelling to and from the wind farm.” |
