The works had begun in May 2022. Once completed, it will constitute a change for the populations of the area that will be able to circulate safely. This route joins two towns in the Concepción department of Uruguay and another in the Colón department and the financing comes from an international loan.
Route No. 23 that connects the towns of Villa Elisa, 1° de Mayo and Pronunciamiento is used daily by hundreds of vehicles that, despite its poor historical condition, choose it to move from one city to another. In May 2022, 14 months ago, the start of paving works on this road network was reported, which is currently 15% complete, according to reports from the provincial government.
This work will constitute a great change for the populations of the area that will be able to circulate more safely and should not deviate to National Route 14 to reach the other cities through which this route crosses. The investment comes from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through an international credit assumed by the provincial government.
Despite the fact that at first two billion pesos were allocated, currently the expected sum amounts to five billion. The person in charge of the works is Constructora Dos Arroyos SA and the works include the improvement of more than 25 kilometers, which includes the diversion of heavy traffic on May 1st and Pronouncement.
As reported, the work is progressing on four simultaneous fronts. The first is the diversion of heavy traffic in Pronunciamiento, which already has 80% progress with the execution of concrete pavement of almost two kilometers. The second corresponds to the section between this city and 1° de Mayo with the movement of soil that, once completed, will constitute 60% of the basic work of that section.
The third front is the diversion of heavy traffic on May 1st, where progress was made with the sliding of the wire fences, the cleaning of this area and the creation of embankments necessary for the work. Finally, the fourth front corresponds to the section that joins the last town with Villa Elisa, with the construction of a sewer system on the Pinto stream. |
