NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL) has issued a tender seeking bids from eligible bidders to develop Pumped Hydro Energy Storage projects upto 2000 Megawatt (MW). The tender document said that these projects could be located in any part of the country.
NREL has mulled developing such projects with a 25-year design life which can give six hours of power storage facility. The NREL has asked the bidders to take care of the site selection, studies, and preparation of other reports for such projects.
Talking about the brief scope of the project, NREL said, "Site Selection including all Studies / Investigations, PFRs and DPR preparation & approval (as applicable), all Statutory Approvals, Basic and Detailed Engineering & drawing preparation based on 25 Years Design Life with 6 Hours of Storage, including preparation & approvals of necessary detailed Technical Specifications / Engg. Design & Drawings, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning including 15 Years O&M, meeting all Safety Norms, R&R requirements etc. as required for construction, commissioning and then 25 years or more of successful operation for PHES Project."
It said that these projects should be commissioned within a period of five years from the issue of LOA. This also includes 1.5 to 2 years to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR), land acquisition, studies, detailed engineering and others and another 3-3.5 years of construction period (total maximum as 5 years).
It also said that early completion of milestones would be acceptable and already built-up projects would also be acceptable. The tender said that a single bidder could submit a single bid offering a contracted capacity of a minimum 200 MW at a single location and then in increments of 10 MW upto a maximum capacity of 2000 MW (in a single location or multiple locations with a minimum 200 MW at each location. It has asked the bidders to submit their bids latest by August 16. |
