Work Detail The Government of Meghalaya and NTPC have signed a series of memorandum of understanding (MoUs) to uplift the power infrastructure and connectivity across the state. The signing ceremony was held in New Delhi in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, senior officers of NTPC and Meghalaya Energy Corporation (MeECL). The MoUs entail power portfolio management services (PMS), setting up pumped storage power plants (PSPs), and implementing floating solar projects to ensure efficient distribution of power and improved service delivery to the state. It also involves the study of the feasibility in setting up the PSPs, and exploring the possibility of setting up a floating solar power unit in Umiam and other water bodies. The signing of the MoU aims to explore the untapped potential of small hydro projects and to move towards green and clean energy and self-sufficiency in power generation. In addition, the PSPs will strengthen power connectivity in remote areas while floating solar projects will capitalise on Meghalayas resources to generate clean energy.
