Work Detail Ghana will embark on the next phase of a water supply project aimed at benefitting nearly 90,000 people across 95 communities. The countrys president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, commissioned phase three of the Five Districts Water Supply Project at Adaklu in the Volta Region on Monday, July 3. He cut the sod for the project in September 2020. This is one of several water projects underway in the West African nation. The project is financed by a concessionary facility from Raiffeisen Bank International AG of Austria, at a cost of $12.54. It is set to benefit around 89,150 people in 95 communities in Central Tongu, Adaklu and Agotime-Ziope. Akufo-Addo, who addressed a gathering at Adaklu, said some of the key components of the project are: • The construction of three concrete tanks at Adaklu Kpeleho, Adaklu Sofa and Adaklu Kpatove, to help keep the water safe from any bacteria; • The completion of a water booster station at Adaklu Kpeleho to transport water to Adaklu and Agotime-Ziope communities; and • The laying of one 175 kilometres of water pipelines. With designs for the projects phase four ongoing, the president told the gathering that the focus of government is to "ensure that all regions across the country are provided with adequate, safe, affordable and reliable water services."
