The work plan contemplates conditioning the place for a more inclusive and dynamic use. In this way, it is planned to renew the equipment, increase the green and recreational areas and reduce the paved surfaces.
The administrator of Parks and Zoos, Ricardo Mariotti, pointed out that this type of works also aims to reinforce the security of the park with more lighting and a greater influx of people in this area of ??the main green lung of Greater Mendoza.
“It was the only sector of the park that had been somewhat depressed, so with this remodeling we are going to recover it. There will be top notch games, furniture, new lighting, bridges and a space for the family to enjoy. In short, the merry-go-round is one more element within this space that is going to be renovated. What we are going to do is a comprehensive reform of what the roundabout is”, added Mariotti.
Detail of the works
The main points will be: the creation of continuous circulations and circuits without interruptions, the formation of spaces adapted to the whole family, the elimination of unevenness (steps) and unification of pedestrian surfaces. In addition, new modern and avant-garde playgrounds will be incorporated, benches, litter bins, drinking fountains and bicycle racks will be renovated.
Also, the sectorization of activities and flexibility of uses of the spaces with the introduction of technology aimed at caring for the environment and sustainability is contemplated.
Likewise, there will be a new space for the elderly in front of the Santa Marta home and an improvement of the parking lot next to the Mendoza Tennis Club with new pedestrian accesses.
Likewise, a new service unit will be built in the same place that the existing one occupies with public toilets and the carousel will be moved to the center of the roundabout to reinforce the centrality of the space and refer to its original configuration of the bandstand.
Pedestrian areas will form continuous surfaces, without joints or steps, with the same characteristics as those existing in the park and suitable to allow the movement of people with reduced mobility and the movement of skates, bicycles, tricycles and the like depending on the area.
Complementarily, recreational areas for all ages will be added with exercise equipment, bleachers, water games and living spaces with tables and benches.
The green areas will be made up of flower beds, meadows and slopes with the presence of existing grass, shrubs and forestry. Its irrigation by aspersion with an automated system is foreseen.
In the same way, all the facilities and infrastructures of the area will be renewed: electricity, drinking water, irrigation water and pumping system, among others. |
