The director of the company Y-Tec, of the state energy company YPF, Roberto Salvarezza, assured that in August the production of lithium cells and batteries for the UniLiB project will begin.
The national plant of lithium cells and batteries (UniLiB), a joint development of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) and Y-TEC, the technology company of the state energy company YPF, and the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, will start producing lithium cells and batteries next August, said the director of Y-Tec, during a panel organized by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).
The batteries will be destined for the public sector and strategic projects, with an installed capacity that would reach 15 MWh/year in one year.
Among other benefits, the energy storage equipment will be used for communication equipment of the armed forces, for electromobility or stationary energy, complementing renewable energies such as wind or solar to supply smaller cities that have no energy. |
