Work Detail | Road warranty work starts Wednesday on Snyder Avenue Warranty street work will take place on Snyder Avenue from West 23rd to West 29th streets starting Wednesday, weather permitting. Simon Contractors will lower utilities that day. Motorists will encounter flaggers and traffic lane shifts during this portion of the work. After that is complete, Snyder Avenue between West 23rd and West 29th streets will be closed for asphalt milling and paving operations. The contractor will then come back to raise utilities and place lane markings on the street. The work is expected to take about two weeks to complete. This project will also have an impact on the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities Administration Building at 2416 Snyder Ave. Customers will be able to access the building from the north by using Dillon Avenue and then using West 25th Street. As a reminder, the section of pavement behind the BOPU’s administration building between West 24th Street to West 25th is private; please use access on Dillon Avenue only. The BOPU’s payment drop box will be open during construction, but the exit to Snyder Avenue will be closed for the asphalt milling and paving operations. Warning sirens to sound Friday as part of monthly test The Laramie County Emergency Management Agency is once again scheduled to test the Outdoor Warning Siren system at 10 a.m. Friday in Pine Bluffs and noon Friday in Cheyenne, Albin and Burns. The warning sirens will sound a steady signal for one to three minutes on the first Friday of every month, according to a news release. The siren signal means “take cover immediately.” The sirens are designed to be heard by people who are outdoors, and they may be heard through open doors and windows. People inside of buildings might not hear the sirens. During an actual emergency, once residents have taken shelter, they are advised to turn radios or televisions to a local broadcast station to get additional emergency information. |
