Work Detail |
The construction of the road linking Oran to the East-West highway in Algeria is reportedly progressing well. As it stands the project has already reached a rate of 95% of physical execution. It is therefore more likely to be completed by the end of 2023.
The project is developed by Agence Nationale des Autoroutes (ANA). It was launched back in 2014 following a study carried out by SMi Group between 2011 and 2013. The construction works are entrusted to Makyol Insaat Sanayi Turizm ve Ticaret A.S. and Algerian Highways/Algérienne des Autoroutes (ADA).
The cost of the project in 2013 was approximately US$ 252.22M. This was exclusive of lighting, ventilation equipment, signalizing systems, as well as CCTV in tunnels.
Scope of Algeria‘s Port of Oran to East-West highway road construction project
The Oran to East-West highway road construction project involves the upgrade of a 26km highway and the construction of an 8.2km 2×3- lane highway. Additionally, it involves the construction of three tunnels, viaducts, bridges, overpasses, security barriers, and dividers. Furthermore, the project involves installing signaling systems, security systems, and power-related facilities.
It is being developed in three phases. The first phase involves the construction of the 8.2km highway between the Oran port and the 1st South Ring Road at the Canastel crossroads. This phase also includes the construction of two interchanges, six bridges, a viaduct, 10 hydraulic structures, and two tunnels of 2,307m each. Security systems and other related facilities will also be installed in this phase.
On the other hand, the second phase involves the upgrade of a 10km highway between the 1st south ring road at the Canastel crossroads and the RN4 interchange. Lastly, the third phase involves the upgrade of an 8km highway between the RN4 interchange and the East-West highway. |
