Around the month of September 2020, the bridge that crosses the Luján River in the town of García and that connects with towns in other parties in the region, collapsed. Since then, there have been many claims that have been made and even opportunely there was talk of a temporary solution with the placement of a mobile bridge. The truth is that this never happened and said crossing can be done with the dangers that this entails, as long as they are not large vehicles. After almost two and a half years of that circumstance, it was officially known that the Provincial Directorate of Roads is betting that a close tender attracts the attention of companies so that it can be solved. In the Official Gazette of recent days, it was learned that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services, through the Directorate of Roads of the province of Buenos Aires, called for the Public Tender No. 28/2023 for the Reconstruction of Bridge on Road 076-01 over the Luján River, Section: MJ García - RP No. 42, in Partido Jurisdiction Mercedes with an official budget of $203,936,954.97. The opening of the proposals will take place next Friday, April 21, at 10 in the morning at the DVBA located at Avenida 122 and 48 in the city of La Plata.

The reconstruction of this bridge, of relevance for the rural community and especially for the productive sectors, refers to the execution of the access embankments to the new bridge to be built over the Luján Stream. For the projected embankments, it has been decided to respect the current widths of the road area, avoiding the shifting of wire fences and the respective land affectations. The existing culverts have been taken as the beginning and end of the access embankments to the bridge, resulting in a total embankment length of approximately 195.00 m. The cross section of the access embankments to this bridge is made up of a crown width variable between the width of the existing culverts and the total width of the bridge of 10.00 m, including shoulders. For the loans, it has been adopted to maintain the current levels of the existing trenches. In the access embankments and on both sides of the road, metal railings will be placed for vehicle protection. Subsequent to the execution of the embankments, a bearing layer consisting of a granular gravel with stone material will be executed. The bridge to be built is of the concrete beam type, with beams in the extreme sections of reinforced concrete and beams in the central section of prestressed concrete. The total length of the bridge is 44.00 m. “Since the existing work is currently closed by the Department, the construction or maintenance of any type of diversion is not planned for the duration of the work. Once the new work is enabled, the existing bridge, now collapsed, will be dismantled and demolished. clarified from the Provincial Directorate of Roads. The execution term has been set at 365 calendar days from the signing of the Reconsideration Act.
