The construction of a sewage effluent treatment plant will be financed by the IDB and represents an investment of more than $4 billion.
The tender was carried out for the construction of a sewage effluent treatment plant in Villa Gesell, Buenos Aires. The administrative act was led by the general manager, Alejandro Hoc, and by the representative of the External Financing Unit, Esteban Verrone. Said event took place during noon on the day of the date, on the 13th floor of ENOHSA. The project will be financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through the PAyS II program, will benefit 160,000 people and generate 200 jobs.
Currently, the operational capacity of the existing treatment plant has been greatly exceeded. This happens in part due to the age of this plant, which is added to factors such as population growth and the higher percentage of homes connected to the network. For this reason, the effluents that enter the plant are not adequately treated, which generates contamination of the water resource; habitat destruction; and the possible transmission of enteric diseases.
In order to solve these problems, the project in question plans to expand the facilities based on the current and tourist populations, since both have increased significantly. In addition, it contemplates the use, repair and adaptation of the installed units, mostly made of concrete; the construction of new units, according to current requirements; and the replacement of all electromechanical equipment.
