Work Detail Small rural producers distributed in 11 Argentine provinces will receive solar herdsmen. There will be more than 2,600 pieces of equipment distributed by the National Secretariat of Energy and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology. The Argentine Secretariat of Energy and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) have begun the third stage of delivery of 2,633 solar oxcart equipment to small rural producers in the provinces of Chubut, La Pampa, La Rioja, Jujuy, Mendoza, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, San Juan, Santa Cruz, and Tucumán. The initiative, which is carried out within the framework of the Renewable Energies in Rural Markets Program (PERMER), is aimed at carrying out energy projects in isolated rural areas that do not have access to the electricity supply network. The solar herdsmen -explained in a statement- are instruments equipped with a small solar panel and endowed with a power of 10 Wp that allow electrifying the wire fences to keep cattle confined. In a first stage, it is claimed to have delivered 1,445 herdsmen in Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán, La Rioja, Corrientes, Córdoba and La Pampa. A second instance, developed last year, included the supply of 2,795 pieces of equipment in the provinces of Catamarca, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires, Santiago del Estero, Chaco and Santa Fe. In total, the entire program directly involves 6,870 small rural producers from 19 provinces. The project is partially financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRF), in addition to contributions from the public and private sectors. As reported last October, when the call for bids for the equipment for this third stage was announced, it is an investment that will total 2.6 million dollars . On that occasion, the winning offer was that of the Agricultural Implements Factory (Fiasa), considered the most economical and adjusted to the specifications.
