The Provincial Directorate of Sanitary Works and Services (DPOSS) began to execute the work to reinforce the “Maipú” sewer collector with the aim of improving the Ushuaia healthcare system. Once it is finished, some 75,000 residents of the city will benefit.

As part of the first stage called "Collector Bajada del Centenario", the laying of pipes on Guaraní street, between Maipú and San Martín, was completed. The works will continue from there to Gobernador Paz street, to then reinforce the collector located on Av. Maipú and that goes from Roca street to 12 de Octubre.
The Minister of Public Works and Services, Gabriela Castillo, and the Vice President of the DPOSS, Sebastián Medina, toured the work together with representatives of the contractor company.
Medina recalled that this new network "is a work of great magnitude, very complex, since it is developed in the downtown area of ??the city, and it will complement the existing collector, which is already insufficient considering the growth of the city." .
He recalled that the work is financed with non-refundable funds by the National Entity of Water Sanitation Works "thanks to the agreement managed in a timely manner by Governor Gustavo Melella to carry out this and six other water and sanitation works distributed in the three cities of the province , with the aim of improving the quality of life of the residents of each one of them.
Medina explained that this first stage includes the "Parque Centenario Collector", which will function "as a reinforcement of the existing rainwater collector on the line of San Martín street, between Gobernador Paz and Guaraní, and the one located on Guaraní street between San Martín and Maipú".
The work also contemplates the redesign and execution of the entrance and the overflow pipe of the 12 de Octubre Pumping Station, the place where the effluents transferred by the aforementioned collectors are directed. |
