South Korean builder Ssangyong Engineering & Construction has completed the work on Atlantis the Royal, a $1.2 billion ultraluxury resort in Dubai, after seven long years, reported Korea Herald.
The project was commissioned in December 2015 by ICD, the Dubai sovereign wealth fund and also the largest shareholder of Ssangyong E&C at that time (currently the second largest).
It had then signed up Ssangyong E&C as a lead contractor together with its Belgium-based partner Besix.
Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences sits on Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island on Palm Jumeirah, featuring a mega project involving the construction of three ultra-luxury hotel buildings (with the tallest being 44 stories tall) offering 795 rooms and three uber-luxury residence buildings offering 231 units.
"Atlantis the Royal is uniquely designed, bent in an "S" shape from a birds-eye view, while resembling a stack of Lego blocks from land," remarked Han Seung-pyo, a project manager at Ssangyong E&C.
"Atlantis the Royal is a complex structure where all 33,000 panels used for outer walls are streamlined," he stated.
According to him, the hotel features a myriad of opulent facilities, such as 109 swimming pools and aquariums. All the buildings are connected by a 1,300-tonne Skybridge installed 80 m high in the air, he noted.
"The hotel buildings consist of 791 rooms, 94 pools and penthouses with their own private infinity pools, while the residence hotels contain 231 households and all the buildings are connected by a 1,300-ton "Skybridge" installed 80 m high in the air," |
