Work Detail Japans Panasonic claims that its new GB-L1CMH1A meter can work without changing the state of the fuel cell. It can also measure a wide range of flow rates and hydrogen concentrations. Panasonic has released an ultrasonic meter that can simultaneously measure flow rate and hydrogen concentration under high humidity conditions. Ultrasonic flowmeters use ultrasonics to measure the velocity of fluids in a number of fluid applications. Compared to conventional meters, these devices can provide more accurate gas flow measurements by calculating time difference ratios between ultrasonic paths in a pipeline. Panasonics GB-L1CMH1A solution is a new product based on technology it previously developed for gas meters. According to the Japanese electronics manufacturer, the system can work without changing the operating state of the fuel cell. It is capable of measuring a wide range of flow rates and hydrogen concentrations. It also has temperature, pressure and humidity control functions. “The temperature, pressure and humidity in the fuel cell greatly affect the power generation efficiency and the durability of the fuel cell itself,” Panasonic said. "To improve power generation efficiency and durability, it is important to capture the internal state of the fuel cell in real time and perform optimal control." The company said that the device is available for sale in Japan from February 10. “The use of this product is expected to accelerate fuel cell research and development,” he added. In 2021, Panasonic introduced a 5 kW pure hydrogen fuel cell generator for commercial applications. He previously installed the fuel cell in several pilot projects in Japan. The H2 Kibou fuel cell system runs on pure hydrogen at a density greater than 99.97% and achieves an electrical efficiency of 56%.
