Work Detail Mott MacDonald provided detailed engineering design services for the new Jebel Ali Port petrochemical facility AquaChemie Middle East has opened its $50 million Jebel Ali Port petrochemical terminal in Dubai. The bulk liquid terminal at DP World’s Jebel Ali Port was opened on 2 February at a ceremony attended by chief guest, Abdullah Bin Damithan, CEO and managing director of DP World UAE and JAFZA; Dr. Aman Puri, Consul General of India, Dubai and Northern Emirates. Also in attendance were Subrato Saha, managing director of AquaChemie, and Anand Kumar, managing director at AquaChemie. AquaChemie commissioned Mott MacDonald to provide detailed engineering and project management design for the terminal. The foundation stone for the Jebel Ali Port petrochemical facility was laid in November 2020. Its operation fitness certificate (OFC) and regulatory certifications from Dubai Civil Defense and DP World were procured by January 2023. The facility has been fully CDI-T (Chemical Distribution Institute – Terminal) assessed and is ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certified. The first vessel carrying chemicals to the terminal has been serviced. AquaChemie’s Jebel Ali Port petrochemical facility details The chemical terminal covers an area of 20,000 square metres and is located 500 metres from chemical berth 4 at Jebel Ali Port. The new terminal is linked by five SS pig-gable jetty pipelines. It has a total storage volume of over 34,000 cubic metres and its 26 large tanks in tank-farms A, B, C, and D are equipped to handle over 100 UN Class 3 and 8 chemicals. The terminal has three tanker truck loading bays for top and bottom loading of tankers and ISO tanks, five semi-automatic drumming lines, a warehousing facility with over 6,300 drums, a dedicated ISO tank storage area, and a weigh bridge at the truck entry point.
