TWP is a partnership between DEME Concessions, French renewable power producer Qair and Belgian renewable energy company Aspiravi created to target the Scottish offshore wind sector. It is working on a 1-GW floating wind project 33 kilometers (20.5 miles) off the coast of Orkney and a 1-GW fixed-bottom project 47 km from Aberdeen. The team has engaged professional services firm RPS, environmental consultancy APEM Ltd and Glasgow’s Blackhall & Powis to support the two sites development. The firms’ responsibilities will include work such as the provision of consenting support services, environmental impact assessments, surveys of seabirds and mammals, fisheries liaison. “Our focus for the next two years is on completion of the environmental, geophysical and geotechnical studies for our two projects,” said Ian Taylor, project director at TWP. “Towards the end of 2023, we will be in a position to begin preliminary front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED) studies with a view to narrowing down our options,” he added. The consortium also encouraged potential technology, consultancy and service providers to register with it. |
