Work Detail The 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas introduced several new battery banks for portable storage and supply of solar generation. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the worlds largest technology events, with more than 3,000 exhibitors, 173 countries represented, and 323 of the worlds top 500 companies. There have been many advances in clean technology this year, and solar generators have been no exception. Here are three solar generators that caught the attention of pv magazine USA . Growatt VITA 550 Growatt introduced two portable battery banks with LiFePO4 for off-grid adventures. The Vita 550 is the most portable option, with a 538Wh capacity battery, 600W of AC output, and 11 multi-configuration outlets that allow users to power most devices. The device has an AC charging speed of 1.6 hours and supports up to 800W of solar input. It can be fully charged by solar energy in 2.5 hours. It has customizable features such as adjustable lighting and optional fast and slow charging. The Watt+ feature allows the bank to exceed its 600W limit and power devices up to 1050W. Growatt claims that the Vita 550 can power a light bulb for 15 hours or a 70W fan for 6.5 hours. The company claims that the device lasts for 3,000 charge cycles. Jackery 3000 Pro Solar Generator For a larger, but still portable battery bank, the Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro offers several features for off-grid flexibility. The device can be charged with six 200W SolarSaga panels, charging in three to four hours on solar power and about two and a half hours on AC input. The solar cells are made with IBC (Interdigitated Back Contact) technology that increases production on cloudy days, early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The battery houses 3,024 Wh of power and offers 3,000 W of AC output. It can produce a maximum of 8,500 Wh per day. The battery can work in adverse conditions, discharging at temperatures as low as -20ºC. The 3000 Pro features an upgraded cooling system, controlled by high-precision chips and nine sensors, which, according to Jackery, has improved heat dissipation efficiency by 30%. The battery bank runs quietly below 30 decibels when charging in silent mode. The bank is also equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to communicate with and be controlled by mobile devices. Geneverse HomePower PRO Plus Geneverse introduced the HomePower PRO Plus, a portable solar generator that can be converted to a grid-tied generator system for home backup. The device can be controlled via an app to perform network services such as peak demand shaving, which enables appliances to be turned on at the most expensive times for the network to avoid high utility charges. The battery has a capacity of 4,838 Wh, a nominal power of 4,400 W and a surge power of 8,800 W. The surge socket supports up to 30 A, which is a very useful alternative power source for contractors, RV travelers and other uses outside the home. The PRO Plus is housed on a motorized “cart” for easy transport and contains 18 outlets concealed under sliding panels. The system consists of two modular Geneverse batteries that can be removed for flexible use. The product will be available at the beginning of the second quarter of 2023. The battery can be charged via AC wall outlet in less than two hours, or by solar power in two to four hours. Geneverse also offers a solar pergola, a seven-foot-tall drop-down canopy that provides shade and powers the battery bank.
