The municipal government called a new tender to culminate with the works of the Camet Sports Center, abandoned since 2015 and where this year no bidders appeared in the two openings of envelopes carried out. To generate greater appeal to construction companies, the official budget was increased to $220 million, 75% above what was stipulated in 2022.
The opening of the envelopes of the Public Tender No. 59/22 was set for January 17, in what will be the first public work to be tendered in 2023. The intervention package consists of the enhancement and completion of all the necessary works for the commissioning of the Natatorium, Barrio Parque Camet Sports and Cultural Center, with a budget of $220,219,250 million. The official calculation is that the works would require a total of 300 days.
The new specifications and conditions resume the one used for the August tenders, where no offers were submitted in the two calls made, on that occasion with a budget of $122 million; in a trend that was observed as a constant for a large part of the year, in a framework of strong economic uncertainty due to the inflationary process.
The first stage of the works will focus on dismantling all the elements that are deteriorated: plaster rock ceilings, removable plates, wooden floors found in the sports area, shower floors to improve slopes. and opening of openings to install security doors that will function as emergency exits.

Then, progress will be made with all the necessary repairs to prevent leaks in both flat and zinc sheet roofs to prevent rainwater from entering the building. Missing carpentry, marble countertops, glass and mirrors will also be installed and railings will be installed on the pool ramp and in the machine room. As for the facilities, a total review of all of them will be carried out, to ensure correct operation.
The works plan includes, in turn, paint jobs on walls and ceilings both inside and outside the building. Official sources indicated that new bars (anti-vandalism) will be included and all existing bars will be dismantled to apply the corresponding anticorrosive treatment and paint finish to each one. And outside the sports center, in the green areas, new grass will be laid.
