With public works as a driving force for the economy, San Juan continues to strengthen the health infrastructure to guarantee care and access to public health throughout the province. San Juan makes a strong commitment to health infrastructure During 2022, just over 30 percent of the provincial budget was allocated to public works, generating more than 12,000 jobs. One of the axes of the construction activity is set in achieving a high quality in the sanitary provision with reach to the entire population. In this sense, the Government of San Juan carried out a plan for the execution of new hospitals and maintenance of existing health buildings. One of the most relevant works is the one that was recently inaugurated: the expansion of the Marcial Quiroga Hospital. It is a building of more than seven thousand square meters that has highly complex services and also has a residence to temporarily house patients from remote areas. On the other hand, currently the departments of 25 de Mayo, Rivadavia and Capital have three new buildings consigned to health. The New Hospital of 25 de Mayo, inaugurated in April 2021, the Dra. Julieta Lanteri-Zonda General Hospital (Refunctionalization of the former El Zonda Mental Hospital, Rivadavia) inaugurated in April 2022, and the PET/CT Nuclear Medicine Center soon to be inaugurated. The latter is a building with advanced technology in nuclear medicine, which with its equipment will place San Juan in the main scientific and technological pole for all of Cuyo in terms of diagnosis and treatment of oncological and neurological diseases. Meanwhile, three other works in progress have as their objective the decentralization of health. In this sense, the New Hospital San Roque, in Jáchal, which promises to consolidate itself as the third largest hospital in the province, will also have a new dialysis service that will be of great benefit to the local community. The Dr. Tomás Perón Hospital, in Iglesia, has the necessary infrastructure for the comprehensive care of the inhabitants and the Aldo Cantoni Hospital, in Calingasta, will contribute to the reinforcement of care in the area. New projects During the month of December, the tender for the work of the New “Dr. Alfredo Rizo Esparza” in Angaco, a project that has an investment of $1,500 million pesos, which will have 4986.75 square meters of surface area. The new Angaco Hospital has the particularity of being the first hospital tendered with the new BIM methodology. It is a new work methodology in the construction industry that, through virtual models and in a collaborative way, allows construction projects to be managed comprehensively in all their stages. Likewise, the projects of three other hospitals are currently advanced, in the departments of San Martín, Los Berros and Caucete. Meanwhile, in Valle Fértil, Ullum and Zonda, work is being done on preliminary projects, defining needs and prototypes.
