With the intention of providing fluidity to traffic between two important cities in the interior of Tucuman, National Highway formalized the call for bids for the construction of the second trail of route 38, between Famaillá and Monteros.
The estimated investment by the agency is about $11. 227 million for a section that presents a flow of 6,500 vehicles per day, according to official data. The advance had been formulated on Monday in Tucumán by the Minister of Public Works of the Nation, Gabriel Katopodis, together with the interim governor Osvaldo Jaldo. The opening of envelopes will take place on February 10.
The project contemplates the construction of the basic work, pavement, bridges and complementary works. “We are reactivating a transcendental works plan for the Norte Grande of our country. After a period of postponements due to political decisions that ended up harming the residents of the region, we are launching projects that continue to improve both road safety and the circulation of traffic that, day by day, increases considerably”, said the general administrator of National Highway, Gustavo Arrieta, "The national government is redoubling its efforts to carry out a productive agenda that ensures road infrastructure, development, employment and connectivity throughout the national territory," added the official.
The construction of the second carriageway, which will transform the corridor into a motorway, foresees an execution period of 36 months, during which the construction of basic work, pavement, bridges and complementary works will be carried out, between the access distributor to the city ??of Monteros and the junction distributor between the new RN 38 and the old road, to the north of the city of Famaillá. The length of the section is 21.2 kilometers.

On the other hand, the project contemplates the completion of two distributors at different levels. One of them will be diamond-type at the access to Monteros, and the other will consist of a modification of the current trumpet at the access to Famaillá, at the junction of the current RN 38. In parallel, the work will include the execution of a return at level, nine bridges over provincial roads and riverbeds, and six low-level crossovers of the “cane path” type over a local road.
"Every time we come to Tucumán we know that we are generating employment, boosting the economy, but also improving peoples quality of life," Katopodis had said during Mondays event. “We will continue with works such as the Tucumán – Termas de Río Honda highway, treatment plants and the Benjamín Paz penitentiary,” he mentioned. The official intention is that the award of the work to the company that wins the tender takes place during the first quarter of next year.
The secretary of Coordination of the Ministry of Public Works of Tucumán, Marcelo Caponio, pondered the works announced by the Nation for the province. “Essential infrastructure works for the development of the province are on the political agenda of Governor Osvaldo Jaldo and Chief of Staff Juan Manzur. Finishing the highway of route 38 connects the province from south to north and the highway of route 9 to Termas del Río Hondo connects Tucumán and the region with the port by highway. It is a priority of this national government to finish the final outline of this work”, he affirmed.
The new roadway of Route 38 between Famaillá and Monteros was inaugurated in August 2007, in an act attended by then President Néstor Kirchner and former Governor José Alperovich. Now a second trail will be built to continue with the highway that starts in San Miguel de Tucumán and ends at Famaillá.
