Work Detail On December 14, the second section of the Mendoza-San Juan double track will be awarded, in the neighboring province. Cartellone is one of the five companies in the race for the award of the 25 kilometers of the Second Section of the double track of Route 40, in San Juan. The Cacheuta-Potrerillos tunnel is one of the many works carried out by Cartellone in Mendoza. The Cacheuta-Potrerillos link had a budget of $395 million and included the construction of 2,200 meters of road connection, including 420 linear meters of tunnel (drilling and blasting). The works were completed in 21 months and began in May 2016. In the new bidding process, of National Highway, five offers were able to compete. The lowest bid was submitted by Cartellone, with a budget of $8,798,876,000. They are followed by Decavial with $9,938,234,576 and Panedile with $11,849,670,805. The two remaining offers were submitted by joint ventures from San Juan, the first company formed by Ivica and Antonio Dumandzic and SEMISA ($10,997,301,806) and the second called Casa Mapal ($10,195,605,212). The construction companies hope that there are no observations and that the work is awarded. If there are no setbacks, at the beginning of 2023 the beneficiary company must build the workshop and move the road machinery to the area. In order to have a complete link with Mendoza, two sections will remain to be executed in San Juan. The so-called Section I, which runs from the border with our province to Tres Esquinas, and Section III, goes from the entrance to Cochagual to Calle 8. The work to be carried out will have the characteristics of a highway with two lanes enabled in each direction of circulation, paved shoulders and total access control are expected, developed in a rural environment and considering a guideline speed of 120 km/hour. The execution of collectors with gravel and paved structure, detention basins, shelters and pedestrian walkways for the interurban passenger transport service must also be foreseen. THE DOUBLE TRACK IN MENDOZA In our province, an 18-kilometer section of the Mendoza-San Juan double track is underway, which runs from the vicinity of the airport to the entrance to Lavalle. Work promoted by the Joint Venture formed by Ceosa and Chediak, a renowned national road works company. From National Highway they estimate that the inauguration could take place in the first months of 2024. Construction began in August 2021 and had an initial term of two years, that is, it would have to be finished in August 2023 but the jobs are late. The National Highway Administration has also called for tenders for the construction and maintenance of national roads in the Uco Valley. Recovery and maintenance works will be carried out on National Route 40, in the section between the intersection of La Argentina street (entrance to Tunuyán) up to its junction with Route 143 in Pareditas, as well as on Route 143 with the junction up to the entrance arch to the department of San Rafael.
