The head of the Provincial Water Department (DPA), Fernando Curetti, explained to FM DE LA COSTA what function the water that will come out of the new Viedma sewage plant will have.
He was consulted about this issue and said that in general, "the work has a great advantage, in addition to its environmental benefits, and that is that once the pools are complete, the effluent will be used for reuse."
"From this point we are almost 6 kilometers from the river, so what was conceived as a project is to do that: not dump effluents into the river anymore, and we also have the advantage that we can use that liquid to irrigate," he continued. .
He assured that "the surfaces to be irrigated are around 400 hectares, and obviously it will be done in stages as the effluent increases in quantity."
According to the fields chosen to be irrigated, he pointed out that “they are alternatives that are being evaluated. We will use the space that was expropriated for this plant, we will see what is the mechanism that we must use, because the lands with the irrigation must be awarded”.
