The current portfolio of Matrix Renewables is made up of 2.3 GW of operational projects, under construction or "Ready to Build", together with a development portfolio of another 7.3 GW.
Matrix Renewables, the global renewable energy platform backed by TPG Rise, has announced the acquisition of a portfolio of 4.6 GW solar energy projects located in various territories of the central United States, in addition to signing a broader collaboration agreement with the initial partners of the project: SolarStone Partners. In addition to expanding the companys US portfolio, Matrix says it will have the opportunity to develop additional projects with SolarStone Partners.
"Matrix Renewables and SolarStone will jointly develop their 4.6 GW portfolio while exploring and creating additional opportunities in different markets in the United States," it explains. Cohn Reznick Capital and Norton Rose Fullbright served as financial and legal advisors to Matrix Renewables.
In June, the company announced the financing of its first project in the United States : it is Gaskell West 2 and Gaskell West 3, the project that the company bought from Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, in April , which adds 143 MWp of energy solar and incorporate an 80 MWh energy storage system.
The project, which has five PPAs signed, is expected to enter into commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Matrix Renewables affirms that it has been developing its presence in the United States since its foundation, and the country is already the sixth in operations for the company, where it has a headquarters in Miami (Florida), open in August 2021. According to its web portal , this is, so far, his only project in the United States. TPG announced in 2020 the creation of Matrix after acquiring 1 GW of solar projects from Trina in Spain, Chile, Colombia and Mexico . Last year, Matrix Renewables entered Italy with a portfolio of 420 MW , and this year it has joined forces with Energía Aljaval to develop another 300 MW in Italy .
Also on its web portal, the company talks about possible growth in Portugal and the United Kingdom.
