Work Detail |
The Argentine state company YPF Tecnología (Y-TEC) and the National Strategic Public Company for Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB) have signed a framework agreement for the promotion, planning, coordination and execution of scientific-technological cooperation activities for the production of cells and lithium ion batteries with autonomous technology.
One of the most ambitious projects of the agreement is the development of a lithium-ion cell and battery production plant with a capacity of at least 10 MWh/year, as well as the production of cathode materials (LiFePO4 and LiNixMnyCozO2) from lithium salts locally produced.
The promotion of the production of advanced performance lithium ion batteries based on the laboratory prototypes developed in Argentina and Bolivia is also proposed, as well as the innovation of cells and batteries and the design of prototypes for photovoltaic systems, packs for electric vehicles or others.
In this sense, regarding the last point, it will seek to increase the necessary knowledge for the production of lithium ion cells and batteries for different applications, including electromobility and autonomous stationary systems.
An important point will also be the promotion of technology-based companies that participate in the lithium cell and battery production project as providers of highly specialized technical services, supplies and equipment.
And closely linked to the above is the point in which the training of technicians, engineers and scientists in topics related to the production of cathode materials, lithium cells and batteries, which includes analysis and characterization of materials, electrochemical techniques and quality control and safety of lithium ion batteries.
This agreement of understanding comes to endorse a similar one, with a focus on scientific-technological research in the area of ??evaporite resources and lithium, signed by the Science Ministers of both countries last April at the Casa Rosada, seat of the Argentine government, before the presence of the presidents of Argentina and Bolivia, Alberto Fernández and Luis Arce, respectively. |
