MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the project owner for the Terminal Industriel Polyvalent de San Pedro (TIPSP) concession, has started the construction works for the terminal in Cote d´Ivoire. Once complete, TIPSP will be able to handle container ships with a capacity of 14,000 TEUs.
MSC was selected as concessionaire by Port Autonome de San Pedro to design, build, finance, operate and maintain (DBFOM) the new bulk terminal at the port of San Pedro. TIPSP will have a 5 ha container terminal, a 5 ha multipurpose terminal, a palm oil tank terminal, a cereals terminal and a cement terminal. It will feature modern equipment to facilitate transshipment operations.
The concession period for the project is 35 years. MSC recently secured US$92 million in senior debt with a repayment period of 10 years for the implementation of the project from Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) in partnership with the other two investment banks. |
