Work Detail |
The works for its recovery and transformation into a museum begin with a first stage of diagnosis and then with the delivery of plans and specifications for the bidding process.
The Municipal Palace begins the stage of recovery and revaluation, as announced this Saturday by Mayor Damián Bernarte when he led a press conference to report on the approach they have been taking to preserve the architectural and urban heritage.
With 89 years of existence, the architectural emblem begins its process to soon become a museum.
Deadlines
About the times, «now come the deadlines of the public administration with the political decision to move forward. It will take as long as it takes and the Municipal State will bear the cost of the work that is necessary because we understand that it is impossible to set a course if we do not know where we come from and the people of San Francisco are very proud of what we have and to set it on fire, nothing better than recover the icon of the city”, added Bernarte.
Works
The architect Enrique Zanni commented that «we have two tasks that come together in the result, which are the diagnosis of the state of the building and the repair and rehabilitation project. From our consultancy, we have been dedicated for 31 years to pathologies of construction applied to heritage together with the architect Javier Correa who is going to be in charge of the conservation project itself. The work is as a team, interdisciplinary and jointly.
Zanni, who has to his credit important heritage recovery works such as the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Iglesia de los Capuchinos) in the city of Córdoba, pointed out that "the mayors initiative to rescue a building of both heritage value and It is the Tampieri Palace. One sometimes wonders why in times of crisis when resources are lacking and could be directed to other purposes, heritage should be conserved. The reason is that heritage is our roots because if a people does not know about its origins, it cannot know where it is going.
"The main thing is to stabilize it structurally and you have to take care of sealing its shell, that is, that no water enters and that problems are avoided."
«There is a trilogy that says that you have to know to value, you have to value to love and love to conserve. You cant keep what you dont want. You cant love what you dont value and you cant value what you dont know. For this reason, this restoration work that will be carried out, a museum open to society, allows all San Francisco residents and surrounding residents to access their roots to a historical symbol like this.”
«Our work concludes in delivering the plans and specifications with technical specifications to the Municipality so that they can call for bids and execute the work. The delivery date is 60 days to meet the deadlines indicated by the mayor, "explained the architect.
On the first impression of the building, Zanni said that "like any building that is about 90 years old, it has some structural pathologies but they are not serious and it is an absolutely recoverable building."
«What caught our attention was that generally the greatest degrading agent of a building is not natural issues but man. When places like this are occupied, they tend to deteriorate a lot because interventions such as openings, installation of air conditioners begin. This building, although the public administration worked, is in good condition and was not intervened to degrade it.
Regarding the difficulties encountered, the architect maintained that "the main thing is to stabilize it structurally and you have to take care of sealing its shell, that is, that no water enters and that problems are avoided."
It will preserve its essence
"I convey the peace of mind that the building in general is fine and has a very high heritage value," he said.
The architect assured that the building will preserve its essence. In the case of the repair or replacement of pieces that are unique and today are in poor condition, Zanni said that different work techniques will be applied. «The protagonist is the building. When the stage of execution of works is carried out, such as work on ornaments, missing pieces, etc., if there are missing pieces, they can be reproduced without making false histories».
Regarding the subsoil and its state, he maintained: “San Francisco has its high groundwater levels and the problem has a solution. You can work on removing the water, preventing it from entering and recovering it so that it is a usable space.
The Tampieri Palace was built in 1933 at the request of the businessman Ricardo Tampieri and its construction was entrusted to the architect Rosarino de la Rúa who took 14 months to build.
The materials arrived by ship from Europe, since Tampieris hometown was Bologna, in Italy. He has paintings and stained glass windows that represent from Argentine heroes and famous musicians to everyday situations of life and the Towers of Bologna.
On October 19, 1964, Mayor Aldo Ferrero bought the building for the sum of 12 million pesos.
"Satisfaction" and "a day of celebration"
Two men from our city have always fought for the recovery of the Tampieri Palace: Arturo Bienedell, from the Graphic Archives and Historical Museum of the city of San Francisco and the Region, and the architect Lino Macchieraldo. Both expressed themselves on the official announcement of the start of work. “It is a great satisfaction to know that the project is going to start. I accompanied Enrique on visits because he was curious about details of the work and we will continue to accompany him until the time comes to turn the Palace into a site museum," Bienedell said.
Macchieraldo exclaimed: “Its a holiday. The recovery of the Palace as a work of architecture is fundamental, but mainly as part of the history of the city».
“When it recovers, it will be an emblem for local tourism”, estimated the architect. |
