The Germans highlighted Uruguays potential for its production and export and explained its H2 Global program, which seeks to develop the global green hydrogen market.
The Uruguayan Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) organized the seminar “The German Hydrogen Strategy”. The event took place last Friday in the Idea Vilariño room of the Telecommunications Tower.
In the activity, the energy and environment advisor and coordinator of the MIEM green hydrogen program, María José González, presented to the attendees, both in the room and virtually, the details of the Green Hydrogen Roadmap in Uruguaywhich was released days ago. Subsequently, the head of the Bilateral Energy Cooperation Division of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Action, Christine Falken-Grosser, explained the keys to the "ambitious" German strategy in terms of energy transformation. Regarding hydrogen, she explained that development must be both national and international, since Germany does not have as good winds, sun and land as Uruguay, a country whose potential for the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives was highlighted. For this reason, she assured that "Germany is committed to international cooperation."
The executive director of the German H2 Global program, Markus Exenberger, explained what the H2 Global project is about, which ensures the purchase of an amount of green hydrogen for ten years, as well as a minimum price for exporting countries, according to the quality of its product and certain criteria developed by Germany.
Through this program, the European country seeks to develop an international green hydrogen market, through risk reduction. The German expert assured that they have been surprised by the interest of other countries in the world about this initiative, and assured that they will continue to search for the development of more knowledge. |
