Work Detail | An important new highway link is being planned for Thailand. A major new highway project is being planned in Thailand in a bid to cut congestion on a key route. The new road will link Saraburi with Nakhon Nayok and is expected to cost US$2.33 billion to construct. Building the new highway connection is intended to reduce the heavy traffic volumes on the existing Phahon Yothin Road to the north of capital Bangkok. The proposal for the new highway will be assessed by the board of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT). The proposal for the Chalong Rat to Nakhon Ayeok-Sarabur Expressway project should have been submitted to EXAT by the end of 2022 if the expected timeline is maintained. The contract for the project should be awarded in 2023. Construction would then be expected to start in 2024. The work is anticipated to be carried out in four separate stages, with its opening expected in 2026. |
