La Ande is working on the definition of a technical-economic model for the Tender to offer 1,000 MW of power, as well as the base remuneration rate. The National Electricity Administration of Paraguay (ANDE) has published this Thursday that, on May 31, the deadline for the presentation of the written expression of interest to acquire extra high voltage electricity from ANDE has expired. In this regard, a total of 23 expressions of interest were received for a total of 5,862 MW of power. This is electrical energy for final use in the national territory, with a supply voltage of 500 kV and defined delivery points at the Yguazú Substation and Ayolas Substation. The companies that expressed their interest require electricity for cryptocurrency mining, data center operation, green hydrogen production, and fertilizers. Specifically, according to Ande, 3 companies are interested in acquiring 1,000 MW; 2 are interested in 500 MW; 3 have an interest in 300 – 400 MW; 2 have an interest in 200 – 300 MW; 3 are interested in 100 – 200 MW; and 10 are interested in acquiring a capacity of less than 100 MW. “ANDE is concentrating its greatest efforts to define the best technical-economic model that can be applied to the Tender, which, with the reference information obtained from the expressions of interest, will be able to complement the Bidding Terms and Conditions of the Public Tender for offer 1,000 MW of power in the national territory, as well as the definition of the base rate that remunerates the costs and the future expansion of the generating park”, explains the agency, adding that the call will be published, at the latest, in the month of July of this year. According to IRENA, Paraguay has not yet added the photovoltaic megawatt. |
