pv magazine compiles the new products presented at Intersolar – The Smarter-E. In this case, the new Varta.wall high-voltage accumulator has an aluminum design and is available in capacities from 10 kWh to 20 kWh. German battery manufacturer Varta launches a new residential battery at the Smarter E Europe event in Munich, Germany. The Varta.wall product has a die-cast aluminum casing and only requires a space of 10 centimeters for installation. The manufacturer describes it as one of the storage systems that takes up less space on the market. The high-voltage battery has been developed in Germany and is manufactured in Europe, although the manufacturer has not specified the location. It is available with a capacity between 10 kWh and 20 kWh and its power ranges between 5.24 kW and 10.4 kW, depending on the photovoltaic inverter used. Up to five systems can be connected. The storage system is capable of supplying emergency energy, with a special booster function that increases the security of supply in the event of an emergency. This increases the discharge rate (C rate), which is 0.5 in continuous operation, to 0.75 for a short period of time. As a result, the storage system can absorb load spikes, such as those that occur when powering up electronic devices. According to Varta, the installation of storage systems is flexible and easy. This starts with PV inverter compatibility, continues with modularity, and also includes the innovative design of the solar module and connector system. “As a result, storage can be installed in less than 30 minutes,” explains Dominik Gluba, Head of Energy Storage Systems Operations. Varta.wall is compatible with various brands of inverters, such as SMA and Kostal. More compatibilities are in the works. The pluggable system ensures that wiring of system components is not necessary. |
