The Minister of Security, Luis Martín, toured the construction works for the new Penitentiary Complex in the town of Chalicán, where he verified that the works are 36% complete. Within the framework of the Multiannual Development Master Plan 2021-2023, in which the Government of the Province projects a series of strategic works in order to boost the local economy, reactivate the labor source and continue with the transformation process for Jujuy, The construction of the new prison in Chalicán advances. In this context, the Minister of Security pointed out that it is a large-scale work that is carried out with the provinces own resources and that meets the highest security standards. Continuing, he indicated that it is a prison infrastructure that implies an important change and includes sustainable guidelines of the United Nations and the Law of Execution of the Deprivation of Liberty. “People who are deprived of their liberty will have a more modern space that is fully adapted to all that is human rights regulations and what is established by the National Constitution so that when they regain their freedom they are fully recovered to be inserted into the society and not to commit crimes again”, affirmed the minister. Likewise, the head of the security portfolio mentioned that the work is 36% complete. We have made important progress and we are proud that from the ministry we are undertaking this work that the province deserved so much and serves as an example for other types of infrastructure, he added. On some issues of the project, Martín mentioned that the Chalicán prison complex will accommodate 650 inmates and will have a very important monitoring system, a perimeter fence that is difficult to circumvent where the spaces will be linked to climate, light, and ventilation. . “The Governor has never spared any effort, he was always waiting to solve all this penitentiary problem. We are waiting for us to soon be able to count on this transcendent project”, he concluded. Work in progress For his part, Architect Rodrigo Catorceno of the company JUMI SRL, explained that most of the people who are working on the construction of the civil work belong to the surrounding towns, such as Fraile Pintado, Chalicán, San Pedro and Libertador. General San Martin, with a total of 190 people and soon it is expected that 60 more people will enter. Regarding the completion of the work, he mentioned that the work plan is destined to be completed in 20 months. Regarding some characteristics of the work, the architect mentioned that it has a modern and functional infrastructure. It will have five collective pavilions, spaces for the administrative service, reception of visits, green areas, space for workshops and others. It should be noted that the bars will be replaced by high-quality armored glass, aiming to strategically improve social reintegration, understanding that the initiative proposes a comprehensive approach to the situation of each of the inmates in the province. |
