The work that Subterráneos de Buenos Aires is carrying out at the Obelisco Power Plant is part of the Modernization Plan for Line D, which is carried out through a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Once completed, it will improve accessibility, circulation and evacuation in one of the most congested points of the network, the space where lines B, C and D combine, and where some 300,000 people pass daily.
Thus, by mid-2023, the new corridor at 9 de Julio station (direction to Catedral) will be completed, which will speed up the combination between lines B and C.
The first two stages are finished but, due to the pandemic, the company that was in charge of stage III had difficulties to continue the work and it is for this reason that what remains to be finished was relicitized, in order to complete the works. as soon as possible.
Subterráneos de Buenos Aires made the call for tenders with an official budget of 1,280 million pesos and, after the award that took place yesterday to the transitory union of companies made up of SES SA and Construere Ingeniería SA, the signing of the contract remains to begin with the works, which will have a total term of 30 months.
The work includes, among other points, a new access on Sarmiento street, between Suipacha and Esmeralda, which, since its inauguration, expanded the combination and evacuation spaces; expansion of platforms and new passageway to transfer from Line D to Lines B and C and incorporation of new fixed and mechanical stairs and lifts to improve accessibility. |
