The lack of water that affected Río Gallegos for several hours, as a result of a repair at the Palermo Aike catchment plant, reminded us how important water or sanitation works are in a province whose cities grew exponentially in the last two decades and demand more services.

According to recently expressed authorities of the company Servicios Públicos SE, this work is in the executive project about to be approved by the Ministry of the Interior, which is the one who will finance it. Once that happens, a call for tender will be made, as Silvina Batakis, Secretary of Provinces of the Ministry of the Interior, anticipated months ago to La Opinion Austral. Water intake, aqueduct, water treatment plant, 13.2 KV line and service road in Puerto Santa Cruz, ($1,540 million);
New water treatment plant for El Calafate ($730 million).
