The project will connect the Rivadavia and Zonda departments without crossing the Quebrada, considerably shortening travel times, and will provide natural gas, internet and electricity services for the areas inhabitants. In addition, with this tunnel, a more agile accessibility will be achieved from the City of San Juan to the Interlagos Route, in a route of more than 100 kilometers of an oasis landscape, between mountains that surround the four water mirrors of the dams on the San Juan River. More works that accompany the Tunnel This tunnel has an important added value, since it will allow the Gran Tulum Aqueduct to pass through its interior, which aims to ensure the supply of drinking water to a future population of over one million inhabitants, reducing the original route of the main pipeline in more than 7 kilometers, avoiding its being buried by the Quebrada, saving tree species of many years and avoiding cutting the road for very long periods of time. Finally, in the future it will also allow the passage of the gas pipeline that will provide the service to Zonda and Ullúm, as well as the laying of fiber optics, and the passage of a medium voltage power line, with significant savings in length and logistics, and consequently, provincial state money. This work, with an estimated budget in the order of five billion pesos, has financing from the Inter-American Development Bank, obtained through the Federal Trust Fund for Regional Infrastructure, and approved by this Chamber of Deputies. Its bidding process has already begun with the call at the beginning of this year, and the opening of envelopes is scheduled for the middle of this month of March, so it is expected that the works can begin at the beginning of July of this year, and conclude it in a period of 24 months.
